GIFTING BOOKS: A Christmas Giveaway Hop

#XmasGIVEAWAY

Gifting Books Christmas hop was organized by Reading Romances!

Was there a book that you gave as a gift or received that meant the most to you?

This is one of the hardest questions to answer.  Being an avid and manic reader/reviewer I receive books daily.  Books that come into my house all have a special meaning, but I would have to place my autographed copies and seeing a review blurb of RCJR eZine in a book are some of the best books I have ever received.
You can catch some of RCJR eZine’s reviews in the titles below.

Okay, I have to admit that bestselling author Katie Lane’s books are pretty special. In two days I read her HUNK FOR THE HOLIDAYS and TROUBLE IN TEXAS.  Now, I am diving into her DEEP IN THE HEART OF TEXAS series and offering the first three titles in the series: GOING COWBOY CRAZY, MAKE MINE A BAD BOY and CATCH ME A COWBOY.

As for a book I have given as a gift.  I would have to choose the children’s book THE FEARSOME BEASTIE from author Giles Paley-Phillips.  My daughter, who is home for holiday vacation will return in January with a copy of this wonderfully bold children’s book.  The characters are crisp and bright with an imaginative story that will charm all the little readers in my daughter’s child development class.

10 Holiday Favorite Things & Giveaway with Author...Victoria Vane

I am beyond thrilled to have a chance to bring  one of the most fascinating writers it has been my privilege  getting to know.  Victoria Vane writes deep rich romances that are set in the heart of the Georgian times.  Think of the classicHenry Feilding’s TOM JONES, now flip it this way and that; then add in one extraordinary viscount who treats people lives like a chess board, constantly interfering and moving them around to suit his pleasure…now you have THE DEVIL DEVERE historical romance series in a nut shell.  Oh, did I happen to mention that—- everything and I do mean everything—person, place or thing— are for this dashingly, daring, vivacious Viscounts pleasure. Good, because reader, oh dear reader, you must be on your guard. For the Devil just might make you his very next vict… I mean pawn in his erotic games of pleasure. Oh,  reader, just think, wouldn’t that be  sublimely wicked if he did? ;)

Wait, before you go, Victoria Vane  has dropped by to chat about her 10 Holiday Favorites. She has included some tasty treats to go along with those scrumptious excerpts below. When you believe you cannot take one more bite, scroll down for a bit of dessert and enter to win today’s giveaway.  Happy Holidays!

Okay, I am working with Donald Maass’s WRITING THE BREAKOUT NOVEL workbook. I am on the first exercise in Adding heroic Qualities.  There are 4 steps.  I thought it would be fun to share them with you.
Step 1: Who are your personal heroes? Write down the name of one.
Here I go:
Robert Downey,Jr aka RDJ aka IRONMAN aka Summer Blockbuster mega movie star of the AVENGERS (awesome movie by the way).
Step 2: What makes this person a hero or heroine to you.  What is his or her greatest heroic quality?  Write that down.
RDJ is a conundrum.  What fascinates me about RDJ is that he is not your cookie cutter white knight-saving-a-damsel-in-distress hero.  Take his character Tony Stark aka IRONMAN he is, blatantly, not a good guy.  He is a self indulgent playboy that gets everything he wants.  At first TS doesn’t have any redeeming qualities.
The same can be said about RDJ.  RDJ is a recovering addict, in and out of jail for drugs either possession or consuming them but beneath it was a guy that was battling some serious demons.  We, the public through the media, observed this man at his lowest watching him fall time ad again.  The thing that made RDJ a hero is that he didn’t lie down and die.  He could have chucked it all n, but he didn’t, but he never gave up.  People counted him out, but he never gave up.  Is his life perfect? I doubt it.  Does he still fight the same demons he nice did? Probably. RDJ is a fighter and for me, as a writer, that makes him heroic.
